It was an evening full of fun, as Major League Baseball Commissioner Allan 'Bud' Selig and an all star line up of roasters took the stage to tell jokes and more at Sixteenth Street's 14th Celebrity Roast on February 16, 2009 at the Italian Conference Center in downtown Milwaukee.

Past Roasts
In 1995, in order to diversify the Center’s revenue, and reduce reliance on grants, a fundraising program was started and the first Annual Celebrity Roast was held.  The guest of honor was Congressman Jerry Kleczka. 

Since then:
 
2007 - Hot, Flavorful and Delicious - A Very Robust Roast!  Harold 'Gus' Frank, immediate past Chairman of the Forest County Potawatomi Community was the guest of honor.  Governor Jim Doyle, Congresswoman Gwen Moore, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and Potawatomi Attorney General Jeff Crawford were the Roasters.  Former Governor Martin Schreiber was the Master of Ceremonies.

2006 - The Gloves Come Off!  It was Ed Howe vs. Milwaukee Heavyweights Jon 'bone crusher' Vice, Bill 'the bully' Jenkins, Dr. Madeline 'mauler' Wake, Jim 'roundhouse' Connelly with Emcee Marc 'bad to the bone' Marotta.

2005 – Is there a doctor in the house?  T. Michael Bolger, President & CEO of the Medical College of Wisconsin was roasted by Katherine Hudson, Ulice Payne, Jr., Mark Brickman and Gary Grunau with Ted Perry from Fox6 News as the Emcee.

2004 – It was a SLAM DUNK ! for health care as Milwaukee Bucks Coach Terry Porter was the guest of honor for the Roast.  Long time friends and colleagues formed the roasting panel, with Charles Besser, Jerome Kersey, Ron Whitmore and Milwaukee Bucks General Manager Larry Harris.

2003 – The Red Hot Roast of Governor Jim Doyle included celebrity roasters Marc Marotta, Catey Doyle, Matt Flynn and Ulyce Payne, Jr.

2002 – Milwaukee business leader Gary Grunau was roasted by Bo Black, Bruce Block, Michael Cudahy and Frank Gimbel.  Comedian John McGivern was the Emcee.  It was a Building Milwaukee Roast.

2001 – The Roast of United States Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson was cancelled due to September 11th.

2000 – Step up to the Plate to roast Milwaukee Brewers CEO Wendy Selig-Prieb.  Mr. Baseball Bob Uecker was the Emcee, with celebrity roasters Jim Gantner and Phyllis Merhige.

1999 – Anything for a few Bucks!  Milwaukee Bucks Coach George Karl was the guest of honor for the celebrity roast.  Celebrity Roasters included Ray Allen, Robert Traylor, Rick Majerus and Del Harris.

1998 – The Roast was an All Sports Legends event with Oscar Robertson, Jim Gantner, Herb Adderly and Karen Bye with Emcee Rick Majerus.

1997 – The third Celebrity Roast featured the ’67 Packers versus the ’97 Packers.  Ray Nitschke, Willie Davis vs Adam Timmerman, Aaron Taylor – a Show me the Trophy face off.

1996 - The second Annual Celebrity Roast featured guest of honor, US Senator Herb Kohl.  Celebrity Roasters included Green Bay Packer Reggie White, former Marquette Basketball Coach Al McGuire, US Senator Bill Bradley and State Senator Alberta Darling.

1995 – Congressman Jerry Kleczka was the first to be roasted to benefit Sixteenth Street.  State Representative Wally Kunicki, State Senator Tim Cullen and Helen Dixon were the roasters.
